The fishery at Ballynahinch is world renowned as one of the finest salmon and sea trout rivers in Ireland. In addition to fishing, as a guest at Ballynahinch Castle you will have access to 13,000 acres of prime terrain and woodcock shooting which is held from November through to the end of January.
Walking & Hiking in Connemara
If your ideal holiday is walking in Connemara then Ballynahinch Castle is your perfect base. The woodlands around the estate offer over five kilometres of woodland, lakeshore and riverside walks suitable for all. Meet with the on-site walking guide who will take you through the history and archaeology which is so much a part of Ballynahinch. There are also great walking opportunities nearby including The Twelve Bens, Maumturk Mountains and surrounding countryside.
Pony Trekking and Horse Riding in Connemara
For horse riding vacations there are a number of excellent options available and Ballynahinch Castle who work with all the local Horse Riding Centers and the Equestrian Centres in Connemara. All levels of experience catered for. The local riding stables also keep Ireland's only indigenous breed of pony, the "Connemara". Renowned for it's lovely temperament, the Connemara Pony is ideal for pony trekking.
